Purpose:

In order to appoint a contractor ready to start working by November 2022 so that the highway works properly complement the major housing development plots of Bedminster Green.

Decision:

To appoint the highest ranked contractor from a tendering exercise, ETM Contracting Ltd to undertake the Bedminster Green Highway Improvement construction contract. This decision was delegated to “the Executive Director Growth and Regeneration, in consultation with the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and S151 Officer” by a Cabinet decision in November 2021.

Alternative options considered:

Option 1 - There were no genuine alternatives. Without appointing a contractor now, the traffic management in place in Bedminster Green for the District Heating works would have had to be removed and put back in place just weeks later when this scheme was ready to start.
