Bristol Waste Company (BWC) – Street Cleansing Village Depots
Decision Maker: Executive Director: Growth and Regeneration
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Purpose:
Reflects the Cabinet Decision of 3 December
2019 not to develop a Street Cleansing Depot as part of the
Hartcliffe Way Reuse and Recycling Centre Facility and for the
Council to identify the future location of the Street Cleansing
Depot facilities as part of wider review of depot provision. The
value of funding required to deliver the selected Village Depot
model was below the Key Decision Threshold and therefore has been
made via an officer executive decision rather than requiring a
return to Cabinet.
Decision:
Contribution of capital costs for the
development of Village Depot facilities for BWC’s Street
Cleansing Services.
Alternative options considered:
Option 1 - The Village Depot approach was
identified with BWC as the most advantageous approach, allowing
Street Cleansing Services depot provision to be distributed across
different locations within the City, bringing the services closer
to the neighbourhoods they are delivered within. As a Teckal
subsidiary company of the Council, BCC can award a contract to BWC
directly, without the requirement to consider other procurement
options.
