Purpose:

Contractor required to carry out responsive maintenance to BCC tenanted properties in response to Disrepair claims. There is a Repairs

Decision:

Decision is to Direct Award to West Country Maintenance Service Ltd due to their availability and history in dealing with these kinds of works.

Alternative options considered:

Option 1 - Open tender for a works contractor - this option was considered and rejected due to the additional time it would take, above and beyond a framework award, both to onboard and mobilise a new contractor. This would result in breaches of disrepair legislation related to timeframes.
Resourcing internally – The long-term intention for the team is to grow and resource this function fully internally; however, this is not feasible in the timeframe that the service is required.
