Inflationary Uplift for Bristol City Council foster carers, special guardians, adopters and supported lodgings hosts
Decision Maker: Director: Children, Families & Safer Communities
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Purpose:
Bristol’s aim is to value its carers and
to recruit and retain local carers for children who need our care.
Providing an inflationary uplift on an annual basis will enable
carers to meet the needs of children. This is recognised as an
essential part of the high value package provided by Bristol City
Council. There are 1076 placements funded across in-house
fostering, SGO, RO, CAO, Adoption, and in-house supported
accommodation at a net cost of £11.8m. The cost of the
uplifts to all placement allowances on the above basis will cost
£419k. The uplift to take account of cost of living
increases, has been agreed.
Decision:
2.73% inflationary uplift for Residence Orders
and Child Arrangements Orders, 3.73% for foster carers, adopters,
SGOs and in-house supported accommodation to be applied for full
year 2022/2023 Inflation to be budgeted and applied annually
thereafter in line with MTFP inflation model.
Alternative options considered:
Not providing an inflationary uplift on an
annual basis.
