Decision details

Acceptance of Horizon Europe funding

Decision Maker: Executive Director: Growth and Regeneration

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

The submission of the funding call was signed off by the Executive Director, Growth and Regeneration, and the cabinet member for Transport. The decision required for sign off for the grant agreement to be signed is to allow for funding to be released and for the project to progress.

Decision:

Bristol has been successful, as part of a consortium led by the Austrian Institute of Technology, in a bid to receive funding which will be used to bring added data monitoring and capacity building for public engagement and participation for the East Bristol Liveable Neighbourhood Pilot. The proposal to submit the bid was taken by the Executive Director, Growth and Regeneration (1st March 2022) prior to submission. The Executive Director, Growth and Regeneration has now agreed for the grant agreement to be signed to enable Bristol City Council to accept the funding of ~£290k to participate in the project over 3 years. The signing will be by a nominated Bristol City Council representative.

Alternative options considered:

Option 1 - The only alternative option is for Bristol City Council to not sign the grant agreement which means we will not participate in the project and gain the funding. This will also affect the participation and funding of the other Bristol partners, UWE, and Knowle West Media Centre worth an additional ~£600k to Bristol and would also damage our reputational risk as a partner for future projects.
Option 2 -
Option 3 -
