Sleeved Power Purchase Agreement for Half-Hourly (large) electricity supplies.

Purpose:
•This arrangement covers around a third
of total BCC electricity demand
•The new arrangements will significantly reduce BCC exposure
to market prices for electricity, and will provide a supply of
zero-carbon electricity.
•The current supply contracts expired on 31st July 2022,
meaning that the Council is now incurring significantly more
expensive off-contract rates for electricity.
•There is a clear and pressing need to maintain a compliant
contract for power to supply council buildings.
Decision:
Contract award for Sleeved Power Purchase for
half-hourly (large) electricity supplies from August 2022 to
September 2023. Consultation has taken place with the relevant
Cabinet Member..
Alternative options considered:
Option 1 - Extending the previous supply
contract by a further period would have delayed the benefits of
sleeving and would also have incurred significant additional
cost.
A standard contract renewal process would forego the cost and
carbon benefits of sleeving.
