Purpose:

Bristol City Council successfully applied for RSI funding from July 2022 to March 2025 and was awarded £9,877,081 for this period working in line with govt aims to end rough sleeping by 2024. We have been awarded further funding from MHCLG to help people move off the streets during the winter months and have been awarded £217,245 for services that prevent people rough sleeping or assist people to move off the streets in the winter months. Funding will be used to fund services that keep people safe in the winter months by providing accommodation and support and to help them move on into sustainable accommodation.
The funding award was made directly at the end of November and the money has now been received into our accounts therefore approval is sought from the Director for Homes and Landlord Services). The funding is not ring-fenced.

Decision:

To confirm acceptance of the grant and to approve spend to accommodate people during the winter to keep them safe from the cold and to help them move on into sustainable accommodation.

Alternative options considered:

Option 1 - No alternative options have been considered or rejected as the money was needed to cover the costs of emergency and planned winter provision to accommodate them and to help them off the streets.
