Contract Award for Special Educational Needs and Disability Independent Advice and Support Service 2019-2022
Decision Maker: Executive Director: Children & Education (DCS)
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Purpose:
Bristol City Council has a statutory duty to
commission an information Advice and Support Service (IASS) to
provide free impartial, confidential and accurate information,
advice and support about education, health and social care for
children, young people and their parents, carers or family on
matters relating to special educational needs and disability
(SEND).
The current contract expires on the 31/5/19 and so a joint
re-commissioning exercise was implemented with Bristol City Council
Education Services, Bristol City Council Children and Families
Social Care Services and NHS BNSSG Clinical Commissioning Group in
line with Bristol City Council policy and EU Procurement
legislation.
Decision:
The SENDIAS service contract for the period
1/6/19 – 31/3/2022 is awarded to Supportive Parents.
Alternative options considered:
The current contract could not be extended and
so a full re-commission of the contract was required. However this
did enable the commissioning partners to enhance the provision
under the new contract in order to improve the service available
for Bristol citizens.
