Mayoral Referendum

We the undersigned being local government electors for the area of Bristol City Council, to whom this petition is addressed, seek a referendum on whether the council should be run in a different way by a leader who is an elected councillor chosen by a vote of the other elected councillors

We believe that the current system of governance in Bristol concentrates too much power in one person's hands making them unaccountable to the people of this City.

Too much money has been wasted on too many occasions. We are therefore calling on the Council to hold a referendum at the earliest opportunity to give local residents a choice on whether to continue with the Mayoral model or revert back to the Leader and Cabinet system we had before.
