Save Our Shops - Stockwood

We the undersigned "We, the undersigned, call upon the Mayor to take action to improve the local retail area known as 'Stockwood Shops'.

This high street was built in the 1960's but, along with many other shopping centres around the city, it has been ignored and allowed to decline for far too long. A retaining wall adjoining the pavement at this location has now collapsed. There are vast swathes of public space fenced off; bollards knocked down; uneven paving stones; and a dilapidated car park. All-in-all, the whole place has become an affront to the residents of Stockwood.

Accordingly, it is essential for the survival of the remaining small businesses and traders there that the Council urgently redevelops the site. Such investment would greatly improve the experience of all those who rely on these shops and services, as well as provide an economic boost both locally and to Bristol as a whole."
