Campaign for the Council to go 100% Plant-Based

We the undersigned We are Plant-Based Councils and are campaigning for Bristol City Council to go 100% plant-based to address the climate crisis.

We are in a climate emergency. It is high time key institutions recognise the urgency of this situation and take action to lead the way towards a more sustainable future for us all. A report by Harvard University from 2019 showed that if we rewild the 48% of UK land that is currently being used to farm animals, the UK could be net negative in emissions. This shows the enormous impact that switching to a plant-based food system could have on our climate.

By signing our petition, you are supporting our campaign to call on the council to transition to 100% plant-based catering, and promoting plant-based eating habits to their residents. This is the logical and necessary next step for councils who have declared a climate emergency.

Our three asks are for Councils to:
Ensure food and drink provided at all internal council meetings and events is 100% plant-based.
Prioritise plant-based menu options wherever else the council has influence e.g. in leisure centres, public cafes, and schools.
Promote and encourage plant-based eating to residents and ensure local advertising is climate-friendly.
