Install speed bumps up Kensington Park Road, BS4

We the undersigned are campaigning for the installation of speed bumps up Kensington Park Road (KPR).

Since the introduction of traffic calming measures on Talbot Road, Kensington Park Road and Lodway Road (LR) are being used as a speedier cut through for traffic wanting to avoid the slower speeds. Furthermore, LR is partly a one-way road, so vehicle drivers can increase their speeds knowing it is highly unlikely they will meet traffic in the opposite direction. However, this speedy driving has lead to numerous accidents on the junction between KPR and LR as vehicles fail to slow sufficiently before turning the corner. Two such accidents have occurred in the past two months, resulting in damaged vehicles and our insurance premiums all increasing.

It is also a concern for the safety of the local residents, children and pets. Vehicles speed up KPR at such speeds they would cause serious injuries to anyone/thing they hit and we believe it is only a matter of time before this occurs.

A final concern is the environmental impact of cars accelerating to high speeds then slamming on their brakes before turning the corner. Forcing traffic to travel at the limit of 20mph will mean less harsh acceleration and braking, and therefore less emissions.

We would like to see the council install speed bumps on Kensington Park Road as soon as possible.
