Hartcliffe Way Recycling Centre

We the undersigned call on Bristol City Council to take steps to deliver the long-promised recycling centre on Hartcliffe Way. We recognise the great need for recycling services which are accessible to the south of the city and to improve the local and global environment. We therefore call on Bristol City Council to begin work on a recycling centre at the Hartcliffe Way site by the end of 2019, or to make a statement on the progress of plans for a recycling centre by the end of 2018. We also call on Bristol City Council to deliver the centre in the best way possible, using common sense to avoid creating unnecessary new problems in the process.

Community campaigners, led by Labour Party activists in south Bristol, are calling on Bristol City Council to put a plan in place for a recycling centre on Hartcliffe Way.

Fly-tipping and the state of the local environment are increasingly large problems. A recycling centre in south Bristol, preferably on the Hartcliffe Way site, would solve many of these issues.

It would also be far more accessible to people in south Bristol who currently need to travel far afield for full recycling services. Many do not have access at all, and those that do are significantly inconvenienced when doing something which should be universally encouraged.

Though there have been concerns in the past about how such a centre would be accessed, and if it would increase queuing traffic in south Bristol, we believe that it is possible to deliver this crucial service without creating new problems.
