Statements and Petitions

 

Any member of the public or Councillor, provided they have given notice in writing or by electronic mail to the Service Director, Legal Services not later than 12 noon the working day before the day of the meeting, may present a petition or submit a statement on the work of the Public Safety and Protection Committee. In the case of a statement, a copy of the submission should be included. Please e-mail todemocratic.services@bristol.gov.uk


The notice should be addressed to the Democratic Services Section (Room 220), The Council House, College Green, Bristol BS1 5TR and marked for the attention of Norman Cornthwaite.

The total time allowed for public forum business is 30 minutes.


4. CONSIDERATION OF THE SUSPENSION OF COMMITTEE PROCEDURE RULES,(CMR10 and 11) RELATING TO THE MOVING OF MOTIONS AND RULES OF DEBATE FOR THE DURATION OF THE MEETING

 

Recommended - that having regard to the quasi judicial nature of the business on the agenda, those Committee Procedure Rules relating to the moving of motions and the rules of debate (CMR10 and 11) be suspended for the duration of the meeting.

6. AMENDMENT TO POLICY REGARDING VEHICLE SPECIFICATION FOR VEHICLES WHICH ARE PROVIDED AS TEMPORARY REPLACEMENT HACKNEY

CARRIAGES

To seek committee approval to amend the policy regarding vehicle specifications for those vehicles that are provided as temporary replacements for hackney carriages, which are subject to insurance claims following accidental damage or other exceptional circumstances such as mechanical failures which may be subject to warranty or guarantee claims.

7. HACKNEY CARRIAGE POLICY - REQUEST FROM THE HACKNEY CARRIAGE TRADE FOR A SURVEY TO BE CONDUCTED TO MEASURE THE DEMAND FOR HACKNEY CARRIAGES IN BRISTOL


To respond to an item of Public Forum raised by representatives from the Hackney Carriage trade requesting the Council to (I) undertake a survey to measure the demand for hackney carriages in Bristol and (ii) refuse applications for hackney carriage licences in order to control the number of hackney carriages able to operate in the City.
