Demand for specialist placements currently exceed supply in the city. This decision creates additional placements that are required for children and young people that have specialist needs.

Building works within Venturers Academy to enable 50 additional specialist placements.

Alternative options considered:

78 schemes have been evaluated with a view to deliver additional SEND placements. The analysis covered capital cost, geographical demand, ongoing costs of placements and quality of provision.
