Police and Crime Grant award for the financial year 2023-24

Purpose:
Bristol City Council have agreed to receive
funds from the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner. Bristol
City Council are the responsible body for the Bristol Community
Safety Partnership (CSP) for the CSP does not have separate legal
status. The grant is provided to Bristol City Council, Community
Safety Partnership to support initiatives that serve to prevent
and/or reduce crime and disorder in the Bristol area.
The grant has been assured for 3 years but the spending is reviewed
annually. Some of the services and projects are similar to those
funded in 2022-23 however some funding was not carried over into
2023-24 for a variety of reasons.
Decision:
To accept and spend the grant awarded to
Bristol City Council by the Avon and Somerset Office of Police and
Crime Commissioner (OPCC) – Police and Crime Grant
2023-2024.
Alternative options considered:
To decline the Police and Crime Grant and/or
refuse permission to spend. The decision to decline the grant was
not taken forward as a preferred option for as to do so would be to
decline the opportunity to utilise funds available provide services
and undertake initiatives that in turn serve to reduce crime and
disorder in the City.
