Approval to carry out Footway Maintenance – Slurry Seal

Purpose:
Slurry Seal is a preventative maintenance
process which is used to protect a footway against environmental
damage and also helps to level minor surface irregularities. It is
proven to provide an economic solution to maintaining a road
network.
The process must be carried out between March and October, as
certain temperatures and dry conditions are essential. It will take
most of the season to carry out this hand applied process in order
to complete the programme
Decision:
To install the full Slurry Seal programme in
accordance with the contract thus reducing the possibility of
further deprecation of the asset.
Alternative options considered:
Option 1 -
Alternative option would be to cancel which would be of detriment
of the authority undertaking its statutory and would cost the
authority more in the long term therefore rejected.
