Purpose:
The Department for Education (DfE) have
approved a capital grant as a ring fenced sum for Christ the King
School. The DfE mechanism for distributing the grant to the school
is through the Local Authority. This decision is required to enable
the forward transfer of the grant to the school to deliver the
creation of Early Years provision.
Decision:
To allocate ring fenced DfE capital grant in
the sum of £422,854 for the creation of Early Years provision
at The School of Christ the King into the Education Capital
Programme. Capital grants to be transferred to the school for
project delivery with close monitoring from council officers.
Alternative options considered:
The Education Capital Team considered if it
would be optimal for the council .to deliver the project. Due
diligence was done the on the Trusts delivery mechanism for the
project and the technical resource available to the Trust. On
review it was clear that the Trust was well resourced and capable
of delivery. The Education Capital Team will be available to
support the Trust if needed and will monitor progress
closely.
