The Source (the council’s internal website or ‘intranet’) is a tool used daily by all internet-enabled council staff (including managers and team leaders of non-internet connected teams) for council communications, policy information, access to documents and online transactions.
The current solution is ‘end of life’ and from November 2019 the technology is no longer supported. Replacement is a planned part of the IT Transformation Programme delivery scope. It is planned to rebuild it using the new technology platform available via the programme.

Place a 12 month contract with CoreGB (partner) to:
•Re-build the council’s intranet in new SharePoint technology
•Provide skills development for internal council staff to allow them to work on and support the new solution thereafter.

To maintain the existing intranet platform. Rejected because the technology is not reliable and presents a compliance risk (because the solution is no longer a supported and security patched platform) beyond November 2019.
To rebuild using alternative technology platforms but these are costly and do not align with the council’s strategic choice of technology under the approved IT transformation programme.
