End the PSPO prohibiting drinking in Castle Park

We the undersigned wish the council to withdraw the PSPO prohibiting the consumption of alcohol in Castle Park.

Castle Park is for everyone and many law abiding people enjoy a picnic there in the summer. Criminalizing picnics where alcohol is present runs counter to everything Bristol is about.

Furthermore a £60 fine is way over the top and infringes on a persons' right to a fair trial. The order is not even accurate - street drinking cannot, by definition, happen in a park. Nobody was consulted on this and nobody voted for it. Consuming alcohol is not a crime in the UK, nor should it be - and neither is it automatically antisocial. If someone is drunk and disorderly, that is for the police - not private security who have an incentive to take money from people and could end up causing more problems than they solve.
